Lake Del Valle is 5 miles long situated in the golden hills of rural Livermore, a nice spot for flat water paddling. This paddle will be EASY or STRENUOUS depending on how far you wish to paddle.
This paddle is suitable for everyone with good skills and appropriate boats. Distance: 8.5 miles. We will paddle for 2 hours, find a shady cove for lunch and relaxing, then return to the Marina about 3 pm. Bring lunch and water.
To keep invasive mussels out of the water, a boat inspection is required! BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THERE IS NO WATER ANYWHERE ON/IN YOUR BOAT, PADDLES, LIFE JACKETS, HATCH COVERS, ETC. If the inspectors find any water on your equipment, you may be denied entry to the lake for that day. Arrive early to allow time for inspection.
Entry fee Park $6, boat fee: $4; inspection fee: $7. Kind of pricey, but well worth it.
Directions: Del Valle Regional Park is located on Del Valle Road off Mines Road south of Livermore. Exit I-580 eastbound or westbound in Livermore at North Livermore Avenue. Head south and proceed through town (North Livermore Avenue will become South Livermore Avenue in town). About 1.5 miles outside town, turn right at Mines Road, go about 3.5 miles, and continue straight on Del Valle Road (Mines Road turns left). The park entrance is about four miles ahead.
