Ephemeral Spring Wildflowers Walk at Dwaas Kill Nature Preserve

Details

We'll meet next to the kiosk at the trailhead entrance to the Dwaas Kill Nature Preserve (Town of Clifton Park), which is located along the west side of Pierce Road. We’ll then walk (directly without pause) a trail over rolling/hilly terrain ~0.75 mile to the beginning of an as-yet unmarked new trail in the far western portion of this preserve. That flat terrain trail is ~0.3-mile long and we’ll slowly walk along it to observe what is in bloom. The trail is a footpath with exposed tree roots and some muddy patches – please wear proper footwear.

A portion of this new trail exhibits the largest and densest population of Dwarf Ginseng (Panax trifolius) that I’ve ever found.
