About us
Do you still have the competitive bug and miss the adrenaline of running fast, but your hamstrings can no longer handle all-out sprints on a flat track?
Consider the Carlsbad Hill Sprint Club.
The idea is to build a community of former sprinters, field-sport athletes, and highly active individuals who want to stimulate their fast-twitch fibers, race a little after a proper warm-up, and hang out with like-minded people.
Why Hills? As we get older, max-effort sprinting on flat ground carries a high risk of severe hamstring injuries. Sprinting up an incline effectively acts as a biomechanical hack: it forces better mechanics and virtually eliminates the eccentric braking forces that can cause hamstring tears. It allows us to push closer to 100% maximum intensity with a fraction of the risk.
Who is this for? To ensure everyone has a safe and competitive experience, this is not a beginner's fitness group. This is specifically designed for:
- Former track and field athletes, football/soccer players, or lifelong athletes.
- Individuals who already possess a high baseline of physical fitness and strength.
- People looking for friendly, informal competition (depending on how things go, we could develop this into something more structured).
Masters-level folks are the ideal target audience for this. Younger adults are welcome, but they’re probably fine sprinting on a flat surface!
If you are already fit and looking for an outlet to open up the throttle, you are in exactly the right place.
