About us
Fun, friendly, inclusive dancing. Want to meet friendly people, and get some exercise at the same time? The Carolina Dance Club sponsors a long running (20 years), very popular, social dance every Sunday at the Raleigh Elks Lodge. We focus on swing (lindy hop, west coast swing), ballroom, country social dancing and group lessons.
Come early and participate in a 55 minute beginner lessons prior to social dancing. No partner or prior experience is necessary to join us for the lesson or social dancing.
The Carolina Dance Club is the offshoot of our DJ and Entertainment company, Music and Dance Productions. Our goal, and passion is to provide outstanding social dance opportunities and instruction for our Triangle NC community. It has been our quest since 1996.
My wife Debbie Ramsey and I met dancing in New York City. We moved to the Triangle area back in 1997, and have made this our home ever since. We are professional instructors, dancers and dj's, and love what we do. Debbie Ramsey, is a US Open Swing Dance Champion, California Hall of Fame Swing Dancer, and a fantastic mother of two sons and my loving wife.

DOORS OPEN AT 2:40 PM - TO REGISTER FOR AFTERNOON WORKSHOPS. (No online registration).
Instructor Ms. Alex Raposo of "The Swing Space". Alex is an All-Star West Coast Swing dancer who has been training and competing for nearly four years. She travels across the country to attend events, continually refining her technique, musicality, and partnership skills. Known for her strong fundamentals and competitive drive, Alex is passionate about both performance and growth within the West Coast Swing community. She’s excited to share her experience and help others elevate their dancing in this workshop series.
WORKSHOPS: We will be offering three, fun and informative workshops starting at 3 pm. Take one or all three workshops. Very inclusive, no partner necessary..
SUNDAY WORKSHOP SCHEDULE:
3 pm - WEST COAST SWING TECHNIQUE: Get that signature "west coast swing look" and basic turn technique in this first workshop. This is an important first workshop, don't miss it.
4 pm - TURNS FOR LEADERS AND FOLLOWERS: Basic core turns and technique for leaders and followers.
5 pm - HIGHER DIFFICULTY TURNS AND STYLING DURING ROTATIONAL PATTERNS - A little more challenging material here. We will introduce some leader/follower turning pattern combinations.
WORKSHOP COST: Register at the door. Please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the workshops to check in and get your name tag. Payment Methods: Cash, check, Visa, Master Card, AmEx, Discover, Venmo, Debit at the door.
Carolina Dance Club Members (CDC): $11 One Workshop , $19 Two Workshops, $23 Three Workshops.
Non-CDC Members Public: $15 One Workshop, $25 Two Workshops, $35 Three Workshops.
Students (14-24 yrs): $5.00 per workshop. No partner necessary.
BOOT CAMP BANKROLL: When you take all three afternoon workshops, you can get the evening swing dance at 6 pm for just $5.00 extra.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This five week, intensive class series is for the beginner lindy hop dancer. This is perfect for dancers who are brand new to partner dancing, or dancers with limited experience. No partner is necessary. We will be rotating our leaders/followers in class so that you dance with everyone.
We will be covering 6 & 8 count timing. Learn swing patterns in open and closed position, swingouts, lindy circles, leader-follower turns, starter step and finishes, Charleston kicking Patterns. After this course, you should be confident and ready to swing dance.
Please note that this class series is structured for the dancer who is serious about improving their social dance skills. You will need to practice on a regular basis to keep up with the weekly material. We will be providing a written class step syllabus, and offer weekly video recaps at the end of each class.
