About us
This group is for anyone that enjoys hiking, camping, paddling, or any other outdoor adventure. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. We’re just looking to have fun with other people that enjoy the outdoors. You’ll need to have a reasonable level of fitness to enjoy most of the things we do, but no training is necessary. We hope you’ll join us on the next adventure!

Hiking the Moore's Wall Loop Trail - Hanging Rock State Park (NC)
Hanging Rock State Park, 2847 Hanging Rock Park Rd, Westfield, NC, USGet ready for some great views from Moore's Knob! We'll meet at the Hanging Rock State Park Lake bathhouse near the parking lot (look for the Carolina Wilderness Adventures flag). We'll immediately pass the park lake as we start with relatively flat terrain. After 0.8 miles, we'll ascend up to Moore's knob. There is a tower at the top that offers views for miles. After spending some time at the top for lunch, we'll complete the loop by descending down the mountain, passing balanced rock along the way. The entire hike is 4.6 miles. It is rated hard on Alltrails because of the uphill section and steps on the downhill section. However, if you are in reasonable shape, you should be able to do this without experience.
Here is the Alltrails description with reviews:

What to wear
- Footwear: Closed toe shoes with good traction. Hiking shoes, trail runners, or hiking boots are best, but athletic shoes can work.
- Clothing: Synthetic (non-cotton) clothing is best. Smartwool socks are great for hiking. You may want to bring a hat.
