Cancelled Saturday Morning Rides in Snohomish County (Steady/Moderate/Brisk)

Details

Invitation: Come and check out the the beauty of Snohomish County this fall; we will cover pretty much every corner! Routes start around 35 miles at the beginning of each month and increase to about 50 at the end of each month.

Our routes today (Steady Pace has an altered route):

Steady: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/17440881 32.3 miles, 1,750 ft elevation

Moderate/brisk: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/6351939 37.6 miles, 2,150 ft elevation

Cue-sheets are not provided; please print your copy.

Today's route is a real mixture of rural and urban riding. It starts in the south end of Snohomish County and heads east. We will briefly stop for a restroom break before we continue into the Snohomish Valley. Expect great views of the Cascade mountains, Mt Baker and maybe a flock of migrating birds. The route takes 56th Ave out of the valley. It's the biggest climb of the day, but the rest stop at the Starbucks follows shortly thereafter. After that the route meanders through Everett, Lynnwood to take us back to our start in Bothell.

Paces: Steady (12-14 mi/h), Moderate (14-16 mi/h) and Brisk (16-18 mi/h). If you are new to the Free Group Rides, please read an introductions here: https://www.cascade.org/welcome-newcomers

Registration: Your registration on the Cascade.org website is appreciated: https://www.cascade.org/node/39199 You don't need to be a member of the club to create an account. If you have any questions about this process, just contact the series director.

Expectations (important, please read!): Arrive at least 20 minutes before the start of the ride to check off your name or sign the waiver and be part of the safety briefing. S.M.A.R.T. riding is the standard and all riders are held accountable for doing their best to adhere to these; we want to be awesome representatives of the bike community in Snohomish County and be safe! Front and rear lights are highly recommended! Riders should be able to maintain the posted pace. We regroup occasionally. Riders have to be independent when they have a flat and/or mechanical. Please print a cue sheet in case you get separated from the group and bring a charged cellphone if possible. All riders are responsible to promote a great experience by having a positive attitude, having fenders when the roads are wet or rain is in the forecast, enjoying the beauty we are surrounded by and just by having fun! Steady rain or other unsafe conditions cancels the ride. If the ride is canceled, it will be posted by 7:00 am in the comment section. In that case the ride leaders will not be at the start.

Series director: Dorothé Reijnders - dorothe.nl@gmail.com

We encourage riders to become ride leaders! If you have questions, please ask. For those who have done the class and are interested in doing a mentored ride, please contact Andy Williams or Dorothé Reijnders.
