We are pleased to announce Cycling Out Of Sumner (COOS) will be running as a spring training series for 2017.

COOS runs for thirteen Saturdays, from April 8th through July 8th (except the day of Cascade's Flying Wheels event ride). The purpose of COOS is to have fun while building endurance, strength and to learn essential safe group riding skills. The rides will incrementally increase in distance, leading up to a century. Along the way, we will enjoy the simple pleasures of riding and meeting new friends. Paces are listed above. All paces will use a common route each week.

For ride #4, A favorite, this route takes us to the Black Diamond Bakery. It's a flat warm-up, then a gentle climb up Auburn-Black Diamond Road. We have a couple short 'pitchy' hills as we make our way through some quiet residential areas and on to the bakery. Our return includes a fast downhill on 218th to the Green Valley Road with flat roads back to Sumner. This ride is a mix of everything, a bit of 'city' riding, country riding, flats, and hills ... not to mention the smells of the bakery along with the smells of the farmland.

No stops before the bakery

Please register for the ride using the red "Register Now" button at the top of this page. Registration is not mandatory, but it allows us to print the rider list beforehand and helps us save time at the ride start. On-line registration closes two hours before the posted ride time, and if you decide to ride after that, we will have a waiver sheet for you to sign manually.

If you are a new rider, we are very happy to have you with us. Please read the New Rider link, above, and keep in mind that a helmet is required on all Cascade rides. Also, riders should be able to sustain the pace, carry nutrition/water, and have the know-how and equipment to fix a flat tire. Everyone should carry a phone to call for assistance if needed. We will regroup after climbs and at major intersections.

Arrive at least 30 minutes early so that you can get yourself ready, sign the waiver, and listen to the S.M.A.R.T. briefing. This allows us to have an on-time departure.

Be considerate and have full fenders including mud flaps if roads are wet or a prediction of rain is in the forecast.

A route map and cue sheet are at the Ride With GPS link, below. If you want a cue sheet, please print and bring it. The ride leader will not have extra copies.

Cancellation Policy: If needed, a weather cancellation will be posted two hours prior in the Comments section, below, and the ride leader will not be at the start. Please check here before leaving for the ride.

Ride Leader Mentoring is available, contact the Ride Director prior to the ride.
