Ride On After Dark (ROAD): Steady to Vigorous

Details

The days are getting shorter, but the fun rides on! Join us for Ride On After Dark (ROAD) starting at Element Cycles in Redmond every Wednesday at 6pm through the end of March. There will be four different pace groups each week:

• Steady (12-14 mph on the flats)

• Moderate (14-16 mph)

• Brisk (16-18 mph)

• Vigorous (18-20 mph)

Riders should be able to sustain the appropriate pace for their selected group; know how to read a cue sheet or make it home should they become separated from the group; know how to change a flat (and have the requisite equipment; groups will not stop for mechanical issues); and have a positive attitude! Because this is a series with multiple paces, we will regroup at the tops of hills, but ask that riders who are unable to keep up drop back a pace.

Brisk/Vigorous: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/25719818

Lights: This is an after dark ride; you must come equipped with a headlight (bright enough to light up the road in front of you) and a taillight. Remember to charge your lights before the ride!

Fenders: If the roads are wet, please come equipped with fenders long enough to keep the person riding behind you dry.

Ride start: Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the ride to sign the liability waiver and hear the safety briefing. Water and restrooms are available inside of Element. For people driving to the start, there is plenty of parking in the lot to the west of Element. For people biking to the start, the parking lot is only a block away from the Sammamish River Trail.

Registration: To save time at the ride start, you are encouraged to sign the online waiver by visiting the official Cascade posting (https://www.cascade.org/node/42316) and clicking the red “Register Now” button. You are also encouraged to RSVP here on Meetup.

Weather cancellation: Steady rain cancels. Cancellation will be announced in the comments below at least two hours before the ride start.
