About us
THIS GROUP IS CLOSING
Over the past 18 months this group has grown to 109 members. However, only 2 people have come to a run. I recently decided to join the TF Sports running club in the Marina de Cascais. TF organises a weekly Saturday 5km run from the Marina (basically the same route I originally created) and 25 to 50 people regularly participate.
I have decided to close this group from Friday 13th November. If you want to run with a group I would recommend jointing TF or other organised group - there are now quite a few in and around Cascais and Lisboa.
Thanks to everyone who has joined, itβs a pity we didnβt get to run together. Best wishes and maybe we will meet on the road sometime.

Update: I ran the Corrida FPF 10km on Sunday 19th May. The run started at 10:10 am from Av. Pierre Coubertainin front of the à Praça da Maratona just north of Cruz Quebrada station.
There were about 3000 runners. I managed to complete the run in just over 56 minutes. I was pleased with the time because I wanted to complete in under an hour and also because there were two or three significant hills including the last kilometre which was all increasingly uphill. The elite runners didnβt manage any world beating times, the winner come in at around 31 minutes. If I had one complaint about the organisation, it would be that there was only one toilet available for 3000 runners and their family members and friends! Also, the run ended inside the football stadium which was fairly exciting but the officials didnβt allow any of the spectators into the stadium because there was a football match scheduled for 12:00. All in all it was a good run.
My next organised run is on the 4th October the Corrida Millennium 10km in BelΓ©m. Anyone in this group who is interested in joining me let me know.

Update: I completed the 10km run this morning in under an hour. The weather was misty but there was no rain. There were around 3500 runners. All in all it was a good event.

I am taking a break from running now to the 30th December 2026.
Assuming I survive the New Years celebrations the first run of 2026 will take place on the 3rd January, 09:30 starting opposite the Hotel BaΓa. Rather than running towards Palaphita, this run will be towards Estoril on the seafront. This route is mostly flat with great views out to sea all the way. I hope to see some of you there.
Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year and Happy 2026.

Just a quick reminder, the next Saturday morning run is going ahead on the 29th November, meeting at the ice cream kiosk opposite Hotel BaΓa.
The run is mostly uphill on the way out (itβs Portugal, itβs always hilly!) but coming back itβs mostly downhill. The run is next to the sea so great views all the way.
I hope to see you there.

About me and the group:
I have been road running for many years. I have run the Berlin, Brighton, Edinburgh and Madrid marathons and many half marathons and 10K events. I've completed 50 Park Runs and usually complete 5K on the flat between 23 and 24 minutes. I have recently moved permantely to Fontainhas just north of Cascais centre and regularly run the Trilho das Vinhas and surronding areas - usually between 5 and 10K depending on how I feel about the hills.
For this group, the meeting point would be opposite Hotel Baia and the run would be on the esplanade towards Estoril and back for a distance of 5K. This is a nice flatish run and people can run at their own pace. This is not a timed run but obviously people can use their own Garmin etc. to record their time.
This group is for anyone in the Cascais area who has a passion for jogging and running. Whether you're a beginner looking to improve your fitness or a seasoned runner seeking new challenges, this group is for you. Join us for monthly meetups, where we will explore the beautiful trails and surroundings of Cascais while improving our endurance and general fitness. Connect with like-minded individuals, get inspired, and achieve your running goals with Cascais Runners!
