Saturday Program Speaker Presents: “Using IGG to Solve Cold Cases Presented by Joan Hanlon
Investigative Genetic Genealogy is now being used to resolve cases involving violent crime, unidentified human remains, and wrongful convictions.
Our presenter, Joan Hanlon, has over 30 years of genealogy research and training & over 9 years of experience working with genetic genealogy. Joan is with the Investigative Genetic Genealogist at UnitedDataConnect.com and has solved numerous cases. She teaches a week-long class on the Fundamentals of Investigative Genetic Genealogy. She’s also taught tricks she uses in her IGG work: a modified LEEDS (clustering) chart as well as a method for producing a list of potential investigative leads using Legacy Family Tree and Excel. Ellen will be speaking about the strategies of researching on a low budget.
Bio: Ellen Kowitt is Director of JewishGen’s United States Research Division, and she was recently appointed DAR National Vice Chair of a newly-created Jewish Task Force. She is past president of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Colorado and the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Washington DC, and Ellen has served on the IAJGS board of directors.
