About us
We meet monthly to work on a regenerative farm and education site in Castro Valley. This is a working project focused on practical, closed-loop systems.
What we do:
· Build and manage thermophilic composting systems that produce finished compost in weeks.
· Brew biofertilizers and soil inputs using Korean Natural Farming (KNF) methods.
· Apply soil microbiology principles—using microscopes to assess and guide soil health.
· Design and implement integrated systems (aquaponics, agroforestry, water management) where each element supports another.
This group is for:
· Gardeners and small farmers looking to eliminate off-farm inputs.
· People interested in the science behind soil health and composting.
· Permaculture practitioners wanting to move beyond design into implementation.
· DIY types who want to make their own fertilizers and soil amendments.
· Professionals in sustainability, landscaping, or education seeking practical knowledge.
You should join if:
You prefer hands-on learning over theory. You want to see systems like keyline design, aquaculture integration, and microbial composting in action on a real site. You're interested in the technical details of making a closed-loop system work.
We focus on measurable outcomes: building soil organic matter, increasing microbial diversity, producing food, and cycling nutrients on-site. The project serves as a working model for small-scale regeneration in a suburban context.
Meetings involve actual work: turning compost piles, brewing inputs, planting, constructing systems, and analyzing results. It's a collaborative effort to test, learn, and demonstrate what's possible.
Located in Castro Valley, accessible from across the Bay Area. All skill levels welcome!
