What is CatchIT?
This meetup is the first international, community-centered event designed to connect locals and internationals through open conversation, knowledge sharing, and cultural exchange. Each session offers engaging talks from professionals working with Webstar and student speakers, creating space for authentic exchange, learning, and networking. The format is intentionally relaxed and inclusive, encouraging participants to practice English, gain insight into the software and business world by connecting across cultures. Over time, the series aims to build a vibrant, supportive community around shared curiosity and collaboration in tech.
Purpose
The purpose of the series is to build a vibrant local tech community in Pécs by creating a welcoming, international space for mutual learning, cultural exchange, and language practice. It offers students valuable, hands-on insights into the tech industry while also showcasing emerging talent. At its heart, the series aims to build bridges—between professionals and students, local and international voices, and between fresh ideas and real-world opportunities in technology.

In safety-critical industries such as aerospace, automotive, and medical technology, software failure needs to be either minimized or fully eliminated. Developing highly reliable software requires a structured and rigorous approach, such as the V-model, which is a sequential development lifecycle model.In this talk I will explain the model itself, and walk you through its distinct stages. Insights will also be provided into its application in the automotive industry, highlighting the advantages and disadvantages. Throughout the presentation, I will share real-life examples of both good and bad practices from the field of vehicle occupant safety systems (aka airbag systems).

During the job interview at Webstar, I confidently said I wanted to become a project manager. Later, after actually doing it, I realized it wasn’t where I truly belonged.In this open, interview-style conversation, we’ll explore how expectations and reality can drift apart and how failures can become turning points instead. What happens when you realize that managing projects successfully is not the same as finding your own professional path?
Together with a colleague who will be “grilling” me with questions, we’ll unpack the career decisions, doubts, pivots, and mindset shifts that shaped my journey: from a struggling high school student to tech lead and eventually the CTO of a 30-year-old software company.
If you’re a student or early-career professional trying to figure out your direction, or wondering how to navigate between IT and business without losing yourself, this session is for you.Come with questions. The more uncomfortable, the better.
