About us
What is CatchIT?
This meetup is the first international, community-centered event designed to connect locals and internationals through open conversation, knowledge sharing, and cultural exchange. Each session offers engaging talks from professionals working with Webstar and student speakers, creating space for authentic exchange, learning, and networking. The format is intentionally relaxed and inclusive, encouraging participants to practice English, gain insight into the software and business world by connecting across cultures. Over time, the series aims to build a vibrant, supportive community around shared curiosity and collaboration in tech.
Purpose
The purpose of the series is to build a vibrant local tech community in Pécs by creating a welcoming, international space for mutual learning, cultural exchange, and language practice. It offers students valuable, hands-on insights into the tech industry while also showcasing emerging talent. At its heart, the series aims to build bridges—between professionals and students, local and international voices, and between fresh ideas and real-world opportunities in technology.

◆ EXPERT TALK ◆
Péter Ivanics /CTO @ Webstar/: AI Transformation at Webstar
Over the past six months, Webstar has been working on turning itself into an AI-native engineering company. We are asking a simple question at every step: does the move we are about to take actually make our work better? In this talk Péter shares what that meant in practice: rethinking how developers work day to day, how the team captures and shares knowledge, how quality gets checked, and how habits had to shift alongside the tools. He'll give a behind-the-scenes look at Webstar's AI strategy as a case study and the concrete lessons learned (what worked, what didn't) as a countryside Hungarian SME taking this leap. This talk is useful for anyone who would like to learn about carrying out a similar transformation in their own ecosystem.

◆ TALENT SPOTLIGHT ◆
Bence Lengyel /Student @ PTE-TTK/: Busy Is Not a Strategy: Get the Right Things Done
Most productivity advice teaches you either how to get things done, or what's worth doing, rarely both. This talk connects David Allen's Getting Things Done with Cal Newport's Slow Productivity to close that gap. I will highlight how a system with no direction just makes you efficient at the wrong things, and why great ideas without a system to build it with stay in the idea phase.Whether you're a junior trying to find your way in the chaos or a veteran quietly burning out on busywork, this talk meets you where you are. I will give out a practical challenge at the end and a sentence you'll actually take home with you: being busy and being productive were never the same thing.

You are also welcome to enjoy local, hand-made snacks and drinks on site. Register as soon as possible, as the number of participants is limited!
