Bike the North Shore Heritage Trail

Details
The first of our two July biking events will take us back to the heart of Pittsburgh to enjoy what our city trails have to offer. We will ride the North Shore trail that stretches along a segment of both the Ohio and Allegheny shorelines on part of the Allegheny Heritage Trail, for a fairly quick 6.5-mile round-trip. We’ll start at North Shore’s Chateau neighborhood and ride the riverfront east to Millvale’s Riverfront Park, then back again, taking in the full downtown city-scape along the way.
Our starting point will be Bicycle Heaven, home of the eclectic North Side bike museum and repair/rental shop. If some desire, we can start out by first heading west up the Ohio River shoreline a half-mile or so from Bicycle Heaven to the trail’s actual start (near old Western State Penitentiary at Woods Run), then turn around and begin our journey east.
After our ride, we’ll choose a nearby North Shore dining spot or cross the bridge along our ride to the beautifully developed Washington’s Landing community on Herr’s Island and dine at the upscale outdoor café called Red Fin Blues.
BIKE RENTALS ARE AVAILABLE at Bicycle Heaven (our starting point) for $10 per hour.
Trail Challenge rating: Easy
No reservations are needed for this event, but inquiries can be made to Ivan: Call or text 865-278- 8679 (mobile),
** NOTE: There will be more people in attendance than have RSVP'd on Meetup **
