## About the event

Join us for another evening of relaxed conversation, networking and new connections at Lucy Wong in Fitzrovia.
For our September gathering, we'll once again be meeting upstairs in The Courtyard— an intimate and atmospheric space that works particularly well for the informal style of networking that has become a feature of our Lucy Wong events.
The Chinese Business and Social Network (CBSN) brings together people with an interest in China, the UK and the connections between them. Our community includes professionals, entrepreneurs, students, academics, creatives and people simply interested in meeting others from different cultures and backgrounds.
There are no speeches, presentations or formal networking exercises. Just come along, get a drink, introduce yourself and join the conversation.
Whether you're coming to make professional contacts, explore new opportunities, meet people connected with China and the UK, or simply enjoy an interesting evening with a friendly international crowd, you'll be very welcome.

## Who comes to CBSN events?

There's no single "typical" CBSN member.
At our events you'll meet people from a wide range of industries, professions and backgrounds. Some are Chinese, some have lived or worked in China, some do business with China, and others simply have an interest in Chinese culture or international connections.
You might meet:

You don't need to speak Chinese, work for a Chinese company or already know anyone at CBSN.

## Networking without the awkwardness

We deliberately keep our Lucy Wong events informal.
There's no pitching around the room, no compulsory introductions and no expectation that everyone is there to sell something.
Most conversations begin simply because somebody says hello.
We believe the best connections often happen naturally — through a conversation that leads to an introduction, an idea, a friendship, a business opportunity or simply meeting someone you would never otherwise have encountered.

The Chinese Business and Social Network is an independent community bringing together people interested in building connections between China and the UK.
We're developing CBSN as more than a series of networking evenings. Alongside our regular social and business events, we're building a community that can create professional connections, encourage collaboration, support newcomers and international students, and develop new opportunities for people interested in China and the UK.
At the heart of CBSN is a simple idea: good things happen when interesting people meet each other.
Our events are open and inclusive. You don't have to be Chinese and you don't have to be in business.
You just need to be interested in meeting people.

## The venue

Lucy Wong is a stylish cocktail bar in Fitzrovia inspired by 1950s Hong Kong.
For this event we'll be upstairs in The Courtyard, giving us our own space for the evening and plenty of opportunity to move around, meet people and join different conversations.
It's an excellent setting for the kind of relaxed networking CBSN aims to create.

There is no formal programme, so you don't have to arrive exactly at 6:00 pm. Come when you can and stay for as much of the evening as you like.
Drinks can be purchased from the bar.

## A few words about our community

CBSN is about connections, not hard selling.
We want everyone attending our events to feel comfortable meeting and talking to other members of the community. Please respect that spirit.
We don't welcome aggressive selling, MLM/network-marketing recruitment, cryptocurrency or get-rich-quick promotions, or political or religious recruitment.
Business conversations and genuine professional opportunities are, of course, very welcome.

## New to CBSN?

Then this is a particularly easy event to start with.
You don't need an invitation, you don't need to know anybody beforehand, and you certainly don't need a rehearsed elevator pitch.
