The Blossom of Malmi Cemetery

Details

DATE CHANGE!
Please note the date change to this event. It has been brought forward a week to try and coincide with the blossom better.

This event is specifically to see Malmi cemetery when in full blossom. It has a number of cherry and magnolia trees that are stunning at this time of year. However, it is quite hard to get the timing right, so fingers crossed.

We will meet up at an art work using old grave stones near one of the entrances to Malmi Cemetery, and then start wandering. I will be at the meeting point about 15 minutes before the scheduled time. You can catch us up if you cannot make it on time. Just message me to see where we can meet you.

This is not a tour, you are free to wander off in small groups, or alone, and just enjoy the cemetery environment. If you want to stay in a group you can suggest directions, or areas, you want to visit, and the group will listen.

Do please speak up if there is anything you might like to do while there, and give feedback if you come to one of these meetings. Mainly, I am hoping these trips bring people together to socialise, just in a place people don't traditionally visit for recreation. I find such places peaceful, and I enjoy photographing the stones and wildlife I find there. Others may like to simply admire the stone work on display, others may like to investigate the stories and history of the people buried there. It is completely open. Some may have personal connections to the people in the cemetery and want to visit.
The only limits are that you show respect for the environment, and show respect for other users of the cemetery, who may be in mourning.

Feel free to bring cameras for photography, but do get consent if you want to photograph any members of the group.

Dress for the weather, and bring refreshments if and as you want. Nothing is provided, but company.

As we get closer to the event I will see the weather and blossom predictions and decide if we reschedule, but it will need to be extreme weather for that to happen.

This event is restricted to 20 (19 plus me), purely as a large group walking around the cemetery may not be appreciated by others, and I know not all sign ups will show on the day. However, it is a public place, so all are free to show up and enjoy the space anyway.
