This time, we’re returning for another relaxed evening of conversation, new friendships, great Italian food, coffee, desserts, and that special feeling of sitting around a table with people who may arrive as strangers and leave as friends.

Italy has always understood something important: food is about much more than eating. A café can become a meeting place, dinner can last for hours, and an espresso can turn into a conversation you remember. That is exactly the atmosphere we want for this Meet & Greet - slow down, order something delicious, talk, laugh, and enjoy the people around you. ☕🍝❤️

And Gran Caffè L’Aquila has a remarkable Italian story of its own. The original café stood in Piazza Duomo in L’Aquila, the capital of Abruzzo, and was named Italy’s Café of the Year in 2007. After the devastating 2009 earthquake damaged the original location, the concept was eventually reborn in Philadelphia - the Philadelphia restaurant was designed and built in Italy before being shipped here and opened in 2014.

Inside, you can experience far more than the typical idea of an Italian-American restaurant. Gran Caffè L’Aquila combines an Italian bar, restaurant, gelateria, coffee-roasting program, market, wine program, and cultural experience. Its culinary program explores the cuisines and wines of all 20 regions of Italy, so one visit can feel like a little journey across the country.

Come hungry. 🍝 You may find beautiful pasta, antipasti, seafood, bruschette, cheeses and salumi, regional specialties, and plenty of dishes made for sharing around the table. And after dinner, leaving without dessert would almost be a crime against Italy. 😄 The restaurant is especially famous for its artisan gelato, created under Italian Gelato Champion Stefano Biasini, alongside Italian coffee roasted in-house.
