Halloween Bat Paddle
Details
Let's Get Batty for our 16th Annual Hallowen Event!
Other cities have Witch and Warlock paddles - we have BAT PADDLES! Come celebrate spooky season and one of our cities coolest features - the largest urban bat colony in the WORLD!
We will hit the water at 6:00 pm SHARP on Thursday night and paddle over to the Ann Richards Bridge (Congress Avenue).
Come dressed as a BAT or in your favorite Halloween costume. Bring the family! This tradition is so FUN it's SCARY!!!
The more people we have the better - so don't be shy! If SUP doesn't float your boat, come on out in your kayak or canoe. Bring your family, bring your friends and neighbors ~ spectators are always welcome on the bridge or trail!
Get in the SPIRIT! Bring snacks if you'd like! Bring a beverages! Bring LIGHTS! It will be dark on the way back.
We will start at the boat launch near Austin High and head east to see 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats as they emerge from the bridge before they go back to Mexico for the winter. Join us anywhere along the way!
Of course, we'll have our traditional post-paddle dinner at Maudie's on Lake Austin Boulevard if anyone wants to join us!
** THIS IS A BYOBoard/Equipment Meetup - if you don't have your own board, the closest place to rent is Texas Rowing Center.
If you are bringing an inflatable, please allow enough time to blow it up!
