2 nights in the Big South Fork

Hello, I know this is short notice, but I wanted to get out to the Big South Fork while I could. This will be two nights, starting and ending at the Sawmill trailhead. It is around a 3.5 hour drive for me from NKY.

We will meet at the Sawmill trailhead at 9am to begin our hike.

Day 1: We will head out on the slave falls loop trail to check out slave falls, connect with the twin arches trail to get a look at the twin arches, and take that the rest of the way to the Charit Creek lodge. I have already talked with them, and they have told me there are some good sites in the surrounding area to camp. We will set up camp, and then check out the lodge. 6.0 miles

Day 2: We will take the twin arches loop trail to the laurel fork creek trail, and follow this until we reach the junction with the yellow cliff trail. We will find a campsite in this area for the night. 7.35 miles.

Day 3: We will break camp and head back to the cars at sawmill trail head to head home. 2.47 miles

Total of 15.82 miles

Please remember this is a 2 day winter backpacking trip in the backcountry. You will need to bring all gear and supplies to keep you comfortable and safe for changing weather conditions.
