Hello all! this will be an overnight trip in the Red Rive Gorge, checking out some pretty nice overlooks, arches, and other features of the Gorge. We will pass by Eagles point buttress, Indian staircase, Adena arch, and check out Cloud splitter.
Day 1 April 5th 8.65 miles: we will meet up at the park and ride parking lot next to the go time gas station on the Slade exit and begin our shuttle to the trail head. We will need at least two cars to make this work. We will park at least one at the Suspension bridge, and head out to the concrete bridge and Douglass trail head to park the other cars where we will begin our trip. we will hike 5.70 miles this day. This is rated as a moderate to strenuous hike with a few decent climbs, a creek crossing, and a rock scramble up Indian staircase. We will need to fill up with water at the creek crossing as we will be camping on top of Indian staircase and there is no water up there.
Day 2 April 6th 5.39 miles: we will pack up camp and head out towards Adena Arch and Indian arch. We will also go by Cloud splitter allowing those that want to the opportunity to check out the top of Cloud splitter if they wish. We will finish up the trip by hiking back to our shuttle car back at the suspension bridge parking lot.
