Red River Gorge backpacking to Eagle Point Buttress
Details
Hello! I know this is last minute, but I had some time, and figured I should spend it in the woods! This will be a short overnight backpacking trip in the Red River Gorge up to Eagles Point Buttress. close to 5 miles total, 3 each day.
day 1: We will meet at the park and ride next to the go time gas station on the slade exit. from there, we will drive out to the Osborne bend trail head where we will begin our hike along the Douglas trail that will take us up to the Buttress where we will camp for the night. This will be around 2 miles total. We should get to camp with plenty of time to spare to hang around, explore, do nothing, or whatever else you would like. This will be more of a relaxing trip with plenty of time spent hanging around camp. There is an amazing overlook to check out and spend some time at too. Hopefully we can catch an awesome sunset.
Day 2-We will wake up, pack up, and head out and back to the cars via the Osborne bend trail. This will also be around 3 miles or so.
This is an overnight trip in the wilderness, so please bring all items with you to keep you happy and comfortable in the backcountry with changing weather conditions. This includes food, water, shelter, and clothing to keep you comfortable. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Thanks!
