About us
If you love to walk and meet people outside of the usual places, this group is for you. It's open to everyone of all ages. (It's not a hiking group -- we won't be climbing anything -- though hikers are welcome.) 😊
We'll visit some of the best spots, including safe trails, in Kennebec and Somerset counties. If the group continues to grow or there's more interest, we'll schedule visits farther away.
• Walks will average 2-4 miles.
• Lunch or dinner (including takeout, picnics, etc.) or visiting a nearby local event is an option after the walk.
• Meetings will last a few hours and take place mostly on weekends and occasional weekdays, like Fridays, at least twice a month.
It's a chance to get out more and meet new people while you enjoy a favorite pastime.
Thanks, and I look forward to meeting you and walking with you sometime.
Event cancellations/rescheduling: If there will be a major wind or rainstorm or it will be hot and humid without a breeze (80 degrees Fahrenheit or above), the event will be cancelled and rescheduled. I'll try to give at least 48 hours' notice.
Group FAQs: our small, but growing rules of operation/procedures.

Community Bikeway and Fairgrounds Loop Trails - Unity
Northern Light Primary Care/Bert & Coral Clifford Health Center parking lot, 80 Main Street, Unity, ME, USThese "hidden gems" are each separate trails. Combined, they feature some of the better parts of greater Unity.
We'll start the walk from Northern Light Primary Care, then head along Route 202 toward the former Unity College on Quaker Hill Road, near where the Community Bikeway Trail starts. This dirt/gravel-lined
pathway leads to a wooden bridge over Sandy Stream and then back onto 202 and the downtown (past the NL parking lot). Then we'll stroll through the downtown, which features different architectural styles, before we head onto Newell Court for the woody, oak leaf-covered Fairgrounds Loop along the scenic Sandy Stream. This appears to be the view opposite that of the Connor Mill Trail. It's a highlight of the walk.
The Community Bikeway section before the bridge connects to the grassy Hills to Sea Trails, not part of this event.
For more details and maps, see the photo album.NOTE: As pictured, parts of the Loop haven't been maintained recently, as there are 5-6 downed trees, mainly around the Sandy Stream section. The trunks aren't too thick, though.
Length: About an hour; each leg is about a mile; the Fairgrounds Loop Trail seems closer to a mile than a 1/2 mile. Lunch is possible afterward or perhaps The Artisans' Grove market (open until 3).
Where We'll Meet: In the parking lot behind Northern Light Primary Care at 80 Main Street/Route 202.
