Outside of the gym, the thrift store is the main draw. Also, in the lobby before the gym are shelves of books free for the taking.

Courtesy of Somerset Public Health, the Embden Community Center's gym is open for indoor walking from 9:15 am to 12:00 pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays (except snow days and major holidays). When the thrift store is open, the gym is open.

No registration is required, and there are no fees; non-residents can visit for free.

Note: the gym is small, but warm. Twenty-nine laps = one mile. The thrift store is also pretty cool, with plenty of useful items, and prices lower than your average Goodwill; there's also a bargain section. The thrift store and the Center accept clothing and bottles/cans for donation.

The gym has several bathrooms, and some bleachers are open for sitting.

Requirements: indoor shoes.
