Sukeforth Family Trail System Stroll - Thomas College (Waterville)
Details
These trails starting near Smith Field span most of the Thomas College campus. As pictured, there's something for everyone: grassy sections, dirt paths through the woods, and gravel and dirt-lined stretches.
Despite some slight inclines, it's a fairly easy walk. Just watch out for mosquitoes. ๐
No map is online, but the one I photographed at the trailhead sign seems to show two different trails that merge. Signs around the route point to different parts of the trail, but it's not always clear where one leads to another. I think I've figured it out.
The route: From the "main" entrance next to the sign near Smith Field through the woods, we'll pass around some athletic fields on pathways that lead up and around Sheridan Drive. From there, we can loop around the paved and gravel-lined paths in the center of campus before we return to where we came from.
Some of the grassy sections might not have been mowed recently, so we might avoid them (for the most part).
Length: 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the route. Lunch is an option afterward.
Where We'll Meet: At the trailhead sign (pictured), beyond the Smith Field parking lot (take a right off of Vining Drive). Unlike other school trails, Thomas hosts games for different sports teams during the summer. For 5/31, the schedule shows games will be on at Smith Field from 8 am to 8 pm.
Please park in spaces farther away from the field/trailhead to accommodate the players and spectators.
