Winter Solstice Celebration and Chapter Launch

Join us as we celebrate the winter solstice, a year of learning, the start of a new year, and welcoming back the sun with our third annual John Jackson Memorial "Tree of Knowledge". We will also be celebrating becoming a chapter of Humanist Canada.

This will be a relaxing and informal gathering. We have just a few things we will do, aside from have some conversation.

We encourage you to bring a printout or copy of a book cover to decorate the tree with. It should be a book you have read and loved this year. We will provide the 4x6 hanging holders pictured above.

We will provide some hot chocolate packs. Please feel free to bring some snacks to share.

We will be asking everyone who is comfortable doing so to share three things with the group:

  • first, to share with other humanists the book they choose, some words on why they choose it, and add it to the tree,
  • second, share some positive reflects on 2025,
  • and third, share their hopes for next year (re-framing something negative).
