CFI–Ottawa-Secular Community Network: Everyone working together for good

Details
CFIC-Ottawa's Secular Community Network is an intentional community working cooperatively to build a fair, inclusive and cohesive society through gaining knowledge and serving others.
For the Spring and Summer, our regular discussion meetings will be bi-weekly (Saturday mornings at the Mlacak Centre). For the alternate weeks, we will have occasional group activities, to be announced on meetup (suggestions welcome).
On Saturday, 18 May (weather permitting), we will be walking in the Hazeldean Woods, then gathering for coffee/tea/snacks at the Starbucks in the Farm Boy Plaza on Hazeldean road.
We will meet at 10am at the parking area near the baseball diamond on Kakulu Rd (see map).
Everyone is welcome (kids included), whether it's your first meeting or your 51st.

Secularism Is For Everyone
■ Our intentional community of diverse people is engaged in cooperative learning and collaboration opportunities, through community outreach and being of service to others.
■ We are a wide-ranging group of open-minded people who hold a variety of worldviews but together recognize our common humanity and value the learning that comes from respectful dialogue and disagreement.
■ As a secular group, we warmly welcome everyone interested in working towards our common goals; regardless of sex/gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race or religion.
■ Simply put, we understand that the only way to build a fair, cohesive, and inclusive community is by ensuring equality and respect of diversity for all.

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
