RECON- Lake Maitland Dog Island Cleanup

Please join CFL RECON as we launch from Fort Maitland Park and head to Dog Island! Our last event on Lake Maitland was last year and we hauled alot of trash out of this lake. Like last time, Dog Island will be our destination as there is often trash left behind by party goers.

As the days are getting hotter, we will be meeting at 8AM to avoid the worst of the heat. Central Florida Recon kayaks are shared on a first to arrive, first to launch basis. We will ask all volunteers to sign in at the beginning of the event. After meeting, we will launch from the boat ramp on site. From there, we will paddle to Dog Island where the majority of trash is located.

If all kayaks are spoken for, you can still make a difference by walking around the park to pick up trash before it migrates into Lake Maitland. There is plenty of ground to cover and there is a healthy tree canopy providing ample shade.

We have a supply of trash grabbers and buckets to share, feel free to bring your own bucket and grabber with you. There are public bathrooms on site at this park.

The event is scheduled for two hours and at the end we will combine all of our trash, weigh it and take a group photo.

Please bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and water to keep hydrated.
