✅ Guided Hikes: Each hike has a dedicated walk leader, most often with experience of leading groups ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. However, not all our walk leaders are qualified and although you walk at your own risk, it is thought to be safer walking in groups than individually. Safety

We go over the golf course to Raw Nook and pass the 'rowdie Dowdie' dam and continue to Oakenshaw then up Wyke Lane to Cleckheaton Golf course . Then along The Spen Valley Heritage Trail to Scholes then Bailif Bridge to the Calderdale Way through Thonhills and along side the old railway track and into Brighouse for the end of the walk .
We use paths and bridleway's to go over fields and through woodlands .Please note Finnish time stated is only approximate and could be later or earlier than stated .
NB It is very important that correct clothing is worn or carried on our walks, including waterproofs, woolly hats or sunhats, warm gloves and sturdy hiking boots, as we often walk on rough terrain. The walk leaders have the right to refuse to allow anybody not properly equipped to join the walk. Please come prepared. You will need a packed lunch and enough fluids, and you may need sun cream and insect repellent.

Ascent 1100 feet
From the carpark, we walk down to the railway station ,cross over the line , and take a path to Darnholme .We may be lucky enough to see or hear a steam train .We walk up the road and then walk down the old railway line to the small village of beck Hole .We next follow West Beck and take a path up to the Mallyan Spout Hotel.Our rout then climbs steadily up onto open heathery moorland to the trig point at Simon Howe .Weather permitting ,we should have good views of the surrounding North Yorkshire moors landscape . We then descend over Two Howes Rigg and along the road to Moorgates .We finally follow paths back into the picturesque village of Goathland where the sheep wander freely through the village .C walk ( easier )

Distance , 6 to 7 miles easy going except for Mallyan Spot which can be skipped .
The walk starts near Ellerbeck bridge and follows through to the Lyke Wake Walk as far as Simon Howe ,gradually uphill for about 300 feet .From there its down the moor ,hopefully heathery ,,to the outskirts of the scattered village of Goathland where we join the woodland track past Mallyan Spot waterfall to Beck hole and back again along the old railway line to Goathland and the end of the walk.D Option Do your own circular walk or spend the day in Goathland .
Goathland as been a filming location for both Heartbeat and Harry Potter films .The Village was used as the fictional village of Aidensfield in 'HeartBeat' ,While Goathland Railway Station was turned into Hogsmeade Station in ;Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone Movie .If you wish to book a place on one of our Sunday walks please click link below to go to club Website booking page
