For this Sunday walk we are going to the Welsh town of Llangollen surrounded by hills and the River Dee . Llangollen as an astonishing range of cafes and bars and independent shops to browse and interesting places to visit .There will be the usual 3 Walks of mixed ability to suit all members and for those that may not want to walk to far the oppertunity to spend the day exploring Llangollen , perhaps take a short walk .Llangollen is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site along with 11 miles of Canal and the Spectacular Pontcysyllte Aqueduct that you can walk across for amazing views .

A Walk ( Harder )
Minera to Llangollen

Distance : 11.2 miles
Ascent : 169ft
Descent : 2173ft
Heading South we head for the hills up Minera Mountain ( 400ft ) towards the rugged beauty of Cefn-y Gist Lead and Silver mine .From here we pass World'End a dramatic Limestone Gorge with steep cliffs .We then continue over the hills but not to far away , weather permitting enjoying the panoramic views ,eventually picking up Offa's Dyke Path to work our way down into into charming picturesque Llangollen.

Chirk to Llangollen
Leader: Mick Coulson
Distance 9 miles
Ascent: 1200ft
Climbing Starting at Chirk we make our way past the railway Station to Join the Canal to make way to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct that we walk across with fantastic views < before getting there we have to go through the White House Tunnel which will be dark so would be a good idea to bring a TORCH . On leaving the Aqueduct which is a World Heritage Site we look for the Offa's Dyke path taking us to the remains of Castle Linas Bron after that we make our way down to LLangollen .

C: Walk
Llangollen Circular

Distance: 5.6 miles
No climbing .
We get of the Coach on the A5 just before Poncysyllite and make our way to the canal tow path and the Poncysyllite Aqueduct . This is a grade 1 listed building with 18 arches . It was built in 1805 to carry the Canal over the River Dee.Its the largest Aqueduct in the UK and the longest and highest in Britain .
We will be walking over the Aqueduct with fantastic scenery . we then re-join the the tow path all the way to Llangollen where there should be time to look round this busy little town .

Do your own walk or spend your day exploring the delights of Llangollen , perhaps have a ride on one of the Boats on the canal , Walk over the Aqueduct and take in the amazing scenery .
