The route starts with a steady climb which follows a boundary wall over West Fell and Sand Beds Head Pike .Eventually this path leads to the Pennine Journey walking route and this path leads to the summit of Whernside at 736 metres .The Descent meets the Dales High Way which crosses an aqueduct before following the Settle to Carlisle railway route .The path goes right by the famouse Ribblehead Viaduct then back to the Station Inn to complete the walk .

Distance 8.5 to 9 miles
From the Station Inn ,we walk under the viaduct past Gunnersfleet Farm , Ivescar and Broadrake .At Bruntscar we start our Ascent of Whernside along A Pennine Journey .It is quite a steep climb. We then continue past Skelside to the summit of Whernside where we should have good views of the Howgills ,Lakeland Fells and Morecambe Bay .Our Descent meets up with The Dales Highway to the Aqueduct .We then follow the Settle Carlisle railway back to the Station Inn.
It is possible to extend the walk to 9 miles by turning at Bleamoor Sidings to Winterscale Farm , then back to Gunnersfleet Farm and under the Viaduct .

C Walk :Easier

Ascent 539ft
The walk starts at Ribblehead following the railway line and the Viaduct . At Bleamoor Sidings we to left to follow the Dale's High way ..We pass Ivescar ,Broadwater and Bruntscar .At Ellerbeck Gill we turn left and continue to Chapel Le Dale . Then a short road walk to the Old Hill Inn which as many options . We then follow Philpin lane going right at Gunnersfleet farm psaaing under the famouse Viaduct to finish the walk at The Station Hotel .
