- PLEASE KEEP YOUR RVSP CURRENT! This event has extremely limited spots (10 people total), so let's not deprive someone else of their chance of spending time our furry friends by not showing up.
- Dress code: You'll be spending most of the time indoors so closed-toed shoes should be sufficient!!! 👟👟🧴
- All necessary PPE (gloves/sanitizer) will be available at the shelter.
- Share you memories on Social media! -These adorptable animals are looking for a new home so take/share as many pictures as possible, so they may hopefully find one. (If on Instagram, use handle @azhumane)
- Since we will be first group to attend this event at the new campus - We really appurriciate your feedback on improving this event in the future :)
Looking forward to a fun and unique volunteer opportunity with you! 🐕🦺🐾☺️
- Let's go Tubing @ the Salt River, Mesa AZ SATURDAY 7/20/24Salt River Tubing, Mesa, AZ
Let's go tubing on the Salt River in Tonto National forest!
More information about Salt River Tubing can be found here: https://www.saltrivertubing.com/
We will meet in front of the main rental building and then take the shuttle down to Stop 2 so it is really important that everyone is on time so no one gets separated. Like always, if you're running late, please post a comment on the event page so the group knows.
Once we get off of the shuttle at Stop 2, we will head down to the water & link our tubes/floats together to ride the river as a huge group down to the last landing at Stop 4.
I've gone before and it's a lot of fun. The river is a pretty calm, popular, and well- traveled destination in the summer in Arizona, but there are some parts where the water will be a little rougher so we will disconnect temporarily during those portions to avoid anyone getting flipped into the water.
At the end of the trip at Spot 4, we will catch the shuttle back to the main rental building. Please see the yellow map from Salt River Tubing for more information on our route: https://www.saltrivertubing.com/map-2/
The tube rental fee is $25 per person (includes tube, parking & shuttle). If you decide to bring your own tube/flotation device Salt River Tubing charges $20 (parking & shuttle).
Tickets can be purchased onsite or reserved online here: https://www.saltrivertubing.com/river-tubing/
As per the guidelines set by Salt River Tubing, please do not bring any glass containers/glass bottles and please be sure to also have a way to store any garbage that you might generate as it's strictly prohibited to litter in the river (additionally, it looks like bringing marshmallows to throw on the river is no longer allowed as it qualifies as littering: https://www.saltrivertubing.com/faq/ ).
SAFETY IS NUMBER 1: It is not required for adults by Salt River Tubing, but like for any outing on the water, I would consider bringing a life vest (especially if you do not consider yourself a strong swimmer - I, personally, am planning on bringing one myself). Everyone is responsible for their own safety, if you are planning on drinking please drink responsibly, and please make sure you know how to swim.
Looking forward to seeing everybody there!

First time going? Here are some recommendations based on my past experience :
If you are planning to rent a tube, I would highly recommend bringing an old bottom bed sheet to place over the inner tube. Last year when I rented one they were black so having fabric over it definitely helped. Also, if it's old you can just throw it out at the end instead of worrying about bringing it home to wash.Have an extra set of essentials in your car (such as: glasses (if you wear them), water, food, dry clothes, shoes, and a towel)
I would also strongly recommend you bring:
- A Waterproof bag (that floats) for any personal items you're taking, especially your phone
- Rope/Carabiners (to help you attach to other tubes/floats; I would also recommend pre-cutting some rope ahead of time so you don't have to worry about doing it on site)
- Sunblock
- Food/water
- Towel
- Sunglasses
- Hat
- Water shoes (the bottom of the river can be a little rocky)
Additionally, if anyone wants to bring a waterproof speaker or water guns, you are definitely welcome to do so.
