Retirement can change not only how we spend our time, but also how our friendships fit into our lives. Without the shared routines of work, some relationships may fade while others deepen. Long standing friendships can take on new rhythms as people move, face health or caregiving responsibilities, pursue different interests, or retire at different times. At the same time, new and unexpected connections may emerge.

In this peer discussion, we’ll reflect on how our friendships have evolved during retirement - what we’ve gained, what we’ve missed, and how we’re navigating changing expectations and needs. We’ll talk about staying connected, allowing relationships to change, reconnecting with people from the past, and remaining open to new friendships. Whether your social world has expanded, contracted, or simply shifted, this is an opportunity to share experiences.

Consider these questions before the session:

  • How have your friendships changed since you retired?
  • What do you value most in friendship at this stage of life? Has that changed over time?
  • What has helped you maintain meaningful friendships while also remaining open to new ones?

Please note: This is a camera-on discussion — please join by video with your camera on for the session.
