What we’re about

Charleston is one of the top places in the country people are moving. Come meet other “transplants” and get to know the Lowcountry with us! When I moved from Chicago I started searching for people also new to the area who would be interested in trying the new restaurants, bars, historic events and beaches around town. Other Meetup groups were fun, but didn’t have the focus on helping others adjust to their move, and first timers exploring the city. Little did I know this once tiny Meetup group would become a lifeline as “we were all in it together” and all riding the rollercoaster that comes with a move. Today we have become one of the largest Meetup groups in town, a growing leadership board, and are taking Charleston by storm! My advice: don’t be afraid to come to our events alone. Just show up with an open mind and a smile and you will find your tribe. All backgrounds, lifestyles and cultures welcome. Ages 27+. Join us on our Facebook page so you can talk to other members and get advice on cool stuff to do around town, and other things which might make your move easier. Find us on Facebook under Charleston, SC Just Moved Here Support Group https://m.facebook.com/groups/2098249053787367
Or go to Facebook and type in Charleston SC Just Moved Here. Special rules created by the JM2C leadership board:
1. You must have a picture with your face showing in your Meetup profile to join, for security reasons.
2. Our events are held at local bars, restaurants, and cultural venues where we have worked hard to develop positive relationships so we can host events regularly. We do everything we can to be respectful of the staff and their space limits. No one wants to be the owner that sets aside 30 seats on a Saturday night, and loses $$ to only having 10 show up. To respect our relationships with venues around town, anyone who is a "no-show" 3 times will be counted towards a no-show list and will dropped from the membership list.
3. Mutual respect and integrity among members for all lifestyles and backgrounds
4. Ages 27+

Let me be the first to say, "Welcome to Charleston" --Dana Motley, Organizer.
