What we’re about

If you have a love for animals, want to be more active, or just socialize, this group is for you.

CMPD Animal Control offers a program where you can take dogs out for the day giving them a much needed break from the kennel.

How it works: come in between 11am-3pm weekends and 11am-5pm weekdays, walk through our kennels to see our adoptable dogs, take a picture of the kennel card of the dog you wish to take, show staff your picture and your ID, sign a waiver, take them anywhere in the county, and bring them back before closing. That's it! No appointments or applications.

The group will meet Saturday and Sundays at 11am. At 8315 Bryum Driver, Charlotte 28217. Check in grab a dog and then take a 10 minute drive to Iswa Nature Preserve for a 1.5 hike with the dogs (9909 Wilkinson Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28214). Check ins usually take about 30 minutes because there is a quick meet and greet with the dog before we leave

We ask one dog per person and if you have your own pup you leave them at home for the day.

If you have a leash you can bring it, but the shelter also has leashes available. We also ask that you bring some water for the dog.

I am not affiliated with the shelter but want to spread more awareness and gather some more help.

If you have any questions please reach out. I am Also looking for co -organizers to help if interested

Thanks, Jason
