The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is proud to partner with the Alzheimer’s Association and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Council on Aging to bring you a program series designed to offer research-based recommendations about taking care of our brains and our bodies in order to age as well as possible. Join us for this exciting kickoff session and start living better today!
Participants leave with a booklet for their plan of action!

April 8th - Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body - Join us for this exciting kickoff session and start living better today!May 13th - Healthy Nutrition - Research shows that healthy fuel for your body benefits brain function! Please join us and guest speaker Kelly Vass, MS. RD. LDN., Nutritionist of Nourish Up and Program Director of Meals on Wheels, for a fun session that addresses specific concerns related to cholesterol, obesity and hypertension.
Participants leave with brochures for their next steps.June 10th - Cognitive Engagement - Please join us as guest speaker, Dr Cynthia Hancock, Ph.D., Director of Gerontology Programs at University of NC Charlotte, introduces us to some great programs and opportunities at UNCC. The ‘Senior Citizen Course Audit’ and the ‘Gerontology Conversational Service Learning’. Keep your brain alive by continuing to challenge yourself!
July 8th - Imagination & Inspiration - Please join us for the final session of this series as we will celebrate and inspire you to try something new with the ‘Imagination & Inspiration’ session. This is an opportunity to express yourself, reminisce and connect with others. In this program we honor the late Dr.Lawrence C Katz. Ph.D. Professor of Neurobiology at Duke University who inspired this program with his NEUROBICS.

Join us for a three-week online book club exploring Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar! Whether you're a longtime fan or new to the Bard, we'll dive into the drama, ambition, and betrayal of this classic play through casual and engaging discussions. No experience with Shakespeare is needed—just bring your curiosity! Here's the schedule:
- Tuesday, May 6 at 3pm: Act I
- Tuesday, May 13 at 3pm: Acts II and III
- Tuesday, May 20 at 3pm: Acts IV and V
