This workshop introduces participants to the two most powerful tools for researching a home’s past: property deeds and city directories. Learn how to follow the chain of title through deed books to identify previous owners, uncover transfers of land, and track how a property changed over time. Discover how city directories can reveal who lived at an address year by year and provide valuable details about occupations, neighborhoods, and household shifts. Whether you are curious about your own home or tracing a property connected to your family history, this class will show you how to use these core records to bring the story of a house and its former residents to life.

This program will be held both in-person and virtually via Zoom.
