🌺Description: Have you been dreaming about making your own clothes but don't know where to start? This class is for you! In this 6-week course, you will learn how to:
- Use a sewing pattern
- Prepare and cut fabric
- Make a circle skirt using your own measurements
- Sew an easy woven top using a pattern
- Learn sewing techniques eg. making a waist band, add a pocket, seam finishes, hemming, adding a zipper/ hook & eye closure and more...
By the end of this 6- week course, you will have a cute skirt and top to take home just in time for the summer! We will wrap up our class on June 8th, with a mini fashion show to commemorate your accomplishments!
🌺Who should take this class: This is a beginner friendly class for students who have basic sewing machine skills
🌺Supplies Provided: Sewing machine, thread, sewing tools, Zipper, hook and eye closure, interfacing, and pattern. If you prefer to bring your own sewing machine, you are welcome to do so.
🌺Students to Bring:
- 4 1/2 yards of woven fabric: (2 1/2 yards for the skirt and 2 yards is for the shirt.)
- Suggested fabric options: Cotton, Quilting Cotton, Poplin, Linen. (NO Stretchy fabric).
- - Where to buy Fabric; Michael's in Matthews, Hobby Lobby, Sew much Fun, Walmart, Online fabric stores.
Instructor: Silvia Santos
Silvia is a sewing professional with a bachelor's degree in Fashion Design from Parsons, NY and an AAS in Fashion Design and Fine Arts and illustration. She has extensive industry work experience in fashion design and has taught classes in sewing, pattern making, and knitting.
