Who we are:

We are a group specifically for people that are looking to grow their skills and get connected with the Charlotte developer community. Interested in software development but not sure where to start? Just graduated from a programming boot camp? Been coding for a few years? This meetup is for you!

Our goal:

To grow Charlotte as a tech community. It starts with junior developers!

Background:

There is some financial risk that companies take on by interviewing and hiring a junior developer. Quite often you see "years of experience" listed on job requirements to mitigate that risk. Our goal is to get to know you and vouch for you based on your credibility, not how long you've been programming, so you can get that interview.

Junior Developers

Join and get involved! The more we get to know you, the more likely we can recommend you. We're putting together a checklist of things to work on that will give you some code cred. Connect on slack to meet super nice and encouraging people!

Mentors

If you are a more experienced developer and interested in growing and mentoring the next generation of developers, please join! All contributions welcome.

Companies and Recruiters

Looking for new talent? Please get in touch! We can help spread the word and provide recommendations for you. We also have a #jobs channel that you are welcome to post at any time on slack.

CLT Tech Meetup Mashup – Hosted By Skookum

Hey Charlotte Devs! It's that time again!!! Please join us for the second iteration of the CLT Tech Meetup Mashup event! Meetup Mashup is an evening of short, 10-15 talks on technology and software development from several of the area's most active, tech-focused Meetup groups. Once again, we'll be running multiple simultaneous discussions across a variety of topics for audiences of all skill levels and experience. Whether you want to learn about up-and-coming technology, or practices and processes, managing workplace dynamics, or taking a deep into code, there will be a topic to match your interest. Join us at Skookum in the heart of Uptown Charlotte for a night of networking, food, drinks, and learning! --- *If you've already RSVPd on the Skookum Tech Talks Meetup page, we've got you covered!

JavaScript Study Group!

Skookum

This will be a recurring STUDY GROUP (not a class) aimed at devs both new and seasoned to come together to discuss JavaScript and improve skills and best practices. Structure will be determined as time goes on. Grab your computer, projects and questions and join us for brainstorming, practice and pizza courtesy of Skookum! If you sign up and you change your mind, please change your RSVP so we can plan for pizza. Thanks! Parking Uptown can be a hassle but there are options! The light rail is a few blocks away at the 7th St station. There are a handful of parking garages around that are on the cheaper side in the evening, such as the one at 7th St and the one underneath Rock Bottom Brewing. There is free parking available on the street, but expect to hunt for those spots, and make sure to read the street signs about what time it's OK to park there. ***IMPORTANT*** Please read the note about how to find us to the right in the event details. ---> If anyone has any questions about how to find us, please feel free to contact us directly! :) Hope to see you there!
