Hiking and Pizza-Virgin Falls- Now with Monty Python question if you RSVP
Details
Third Time is a Charm. This is the rescheduled Hike we had to cancel twice because of rain earlier. We are trying something new. Meet in the Wal-Mart Parking lot at the anointed time and we will divide up into Carpools.
Based on the Attrition rates on some of these I am going to roll the dice and take off the attendance limit. The Flake was strong in a recent Kayak event so I am opening this one up.
Be an experienced hiker for this one.
Meeting time is Eastern Time. So if it is 9:30 at the Wal Mart on Signal Mountain road local time you should be there.
Felt kind of funny naming this Hiking and Pizza. I mean I'm a little slow. I thought Net Flix and chill meant watching movies. It was something way different than what what U thought it really was! Mine isn't code for anything. It literally is Hiking and pizza.
It kind of made me think. Hiking has some funny terms that don't exactly mean what you think.
I went caving with some friends and learned you definitely don't want to eat a cave burrito. No matter how hungry you are. Let's just say it's a leave no trace kind of thing.
There's also a Cathole. A hole 6-8 inches deep to... ya know bury the same thing your cat would.
The Bear Burrito. Very different than the Cave Burrito. It's a camper sleeping in a Hammock. I guess that would look like a burrito. Then Ground camping in a sleeping bag would make you a soft taco.
This hike is a favorite of mine. It is beautiful. It's an out and back 8.7 miles trail with a few little water falls along the way to Virgin Falls which is spectacular. There is a side trail to a small cave we will do as well. It is open this time of year so its an opportunity.
The pace will be moderate. We want everyone to have a good time. If we need to split up into groups of turtles and hares we will so everyone can move at their speed.
Check out the trail here and be sure to look at the picture. If that doesn't make you want to go nothing will. Seriously this is a fantastic hike
Of course you have to eat! On the way home lets stop in neighboring Sparta (This is Sparta!) (Some will get that) There is a pizza place that looked really good in the pictures. I never ate there, but it looks good in the pictures and Yelp liked it. Could be nothing more than microwaved Tostino's pizza rolls, but if your'e hungry from a day of hiking they are delicious too.
Here's the Pizza place to give you an idea.
And the next stop is Happy Trails brewing across the street from the pizza place (Thanks For the tip Steve)

Say a little prayer we don't get rained out a third time.
