Mainx24 Parade & additional events to be added

We're moving the meeting place just down the road. A friend is opening a new place up just a block or so down the road and has offered to let us use his venue as a base for the Mainx24 event. It will go till about three. I have some other plans for the evening and need to leave by then.

One of my close friends actually said it figures that I would know the Craziest guy in Rubik's Groove. My friend Brian Holiday....

What? Me?

Okay that is fair! I would never name Susan by name for calling us crazy, but maybe my explanation of the Montevideo Christmas parade where both Brian and I lived would explain a few things to her. He and I lived in the same town and a community of this town has the most interesting Christmas Parade.

So maybe crazy is in the water there.

How does this relate to Mainx24?

Do you remember the Christmas Parades when we were young? I do.

There was the local city parade with your high school's marching band. The bigger parades. The small country town parades. Of course the big dog of them all the Macy's day Parade.

This is a rural Georgia city of 4,000. The Tiny little community, not really a town of Montevideo started it's own Christmas Parade. Basically if you can push, pull, drag, drive or walk it you're in. It gets hilarious.

It started it out as a little local thing, but it has grown! If you can think it they've dreamed it up and put it together.

It I called the
Montevideo Redneck Christmas Parade

You bring copious amounts candy to throw out too. No fancy floats. No Large Helium filled balloons. No flashy bands or Dance routines. Well maybe some dance routines from Rednecks who have no rhythm.

You will see things like
A couple from Hartwell who brought their 3-pound miniature piglet, dressed in a Santa outfit, complete with hat and ruffled red skirt

dozens of local four-wheelers decorated with tinsel, garland, and lights

You get the idea! It is a parade for the other guy minus the pomp and circumstance, rules, taste, better judgment... I could go on. This may explain to Susan who's identity I am keeping a secret the eccentricities of both Brian from Rubik's Groove and me.

In my best Redneck I think what she was trying to say about Brian and Me is

We aint quite right.

That's fair.

This is just jacked up four wheel drives, tractors, contraptions, and folks having fun. Get there early, because it is popular. Some twisted stuff. It's gotten Yuge!

A similar event in Chattanooga minus the Motorized Recliner that was in the Montevideo parade and pictured above is the Mainx24. It like two blocks from my house. I have to go. Sounds almost as crazy! I have many tales from Rural Georgia so I know we are a little crazier.

Mainx24 if I understand correctly is just another made up parade.
