Brunch at Frothy Monkey then The Chattanooga Jazz fest
Details
Sunday Funday Event
So we're going to start with brunch. I figure the easiest spot for it is at the Frothy Monkey. What is a Frothy Monkey. I mean Old Yeller in the book was a Yellow Cur not a Lab. He was frothy. I mean I saw the movie. Like Old Yeller did the owners have to bust a cap in their rabid Mr. Bubbles the Chimp? Spoiler alert for the end of Old Yeller there!
Where did the term Monkey business come from? Sometimes Monkey business can be fun. Turns out to be unclear in its origins though. I do like it's synonym of buffoonery. I know a buffoon or two. I have been called one... Well, actually other things too.
A grease monkey is a car mechanic. They have to be nimble and work in tight spaces. So I can see that.
A monkey wrench it turns out was an actual wrench invented in Worcester, Mass. Turns out to throw a Monkey wrench into something is the United States answer to the British saying "throw a spanner in the works." Our saying is cooler. Aren't they always? I wonder if the Brits know what a skid mark is? Do they have spanner business? Not nearly as fun as Monkey business.
So while we will never know why the Monkey is Frothy (rabies?)
Lets have Brunch at
The Frothy Monkey
Then its on to the Chattanooga Jazz Fest. It is free, in the same building, and best of all it don't cost nothin! They actually bill it as Jazz, Blues, and Funk. So take a chill lazy Sunday and listen to some Jazz and maybe grab a pint next store at Wanderlinger. Keep it cool, daddy-o. in the words of Jazz Musician Art Blakely "Music washes away the dust of everyday life"
Chattanooga Jazz Festival
We'll just hang around and listen and visit. Nothing fancy.
Stay groovy, stay jazz
