New Years Day Hike-Cumberland Trail: Laurel Falls Trail
Details
Note:the Meeting site listed is for Carpooling to the Trail
The tradition of kissing someone at the Stroke of Midnight came from German immigrants. It is a superstition that the first person you kiss will influence your relationships for the next year. That could explain a lot of things for you.
I am ready for a good year. If I go to any New Years Party my date might have to be a Golden Retriever. Can you imagine how good my year would be kissing a Golden Retriever? Google AI actually had some tips on this practice.
"Kissing a golden retriever on New Year's Eve is generally safe for most people, but there are potential risks of bacteria transmission, and it's important to ensure your dog is comfortable with it."
So keep that in mind. You don't want to get the dog sick with your bacteria. It does have to be consensual, but could you imagine if the German superstition came true? You are going to meet the love of your life! They will be perfect and they will bring peace and happiness not trouble. Research shows that dogs provide the emotional comfort of a child, the loyalty of a best friend, without the drama of either.
No Drama? Loyalty? So I can think of a few other reasons kissing the dog on New Years maybe good if the superstition did actually influence a possible new relation to come in the year. Going out to eat? No longer a mystery. Hiking? Yes now! You talked to her? Okay, great! plus they would be just happy to be with you and love you for who you are.
Finding the latter one has been challenging, but then again so am I.
Now this isn't about relationships or New Years Eve. It is about New Years day. I like to go to bed before New Years. I wish they could make it earlier. It's a get up and go hiking on New Years day and grab a bite to eat after.

Know your skills and abilities. Dress appropriately. You should know what to bring and dress. It is a hike at your own risk. You have to know your own abilities.
After? I am not sure! I want to go eat at Monkey Town in Dayton, but I am not sure they are open on New Years day, but we will try to eat there. If they aren't we will figure something else out. If you want me to have it all figured out you got the wrong guy.
I've made a mess of things, but life has been fun to this point.

Anyways back to my ramblings. After a little contemplation and research I found a list. It seems relationships are much easier than I thought and the local shelter most likely has the answer. Going to be a good 2026. I've just been looking in the wrong place!
I'm not on any dating sites, but I thinkI found one I can find a match on. Normally wary of Tinder like sites, but there's this,
Paw Mates
I could see myself swiping right on this a lot. Plus they're all dogs on there. Not like that! In a good canine way!
