Taco Thursday? Can we make that a thing? Willi and I were grabbing some Thai food close to my house this past Tuesday. We ran into John at Alex Thai. He mentioned he was coming up on a big birthday. It is actually the very day of this event. I am not saying he is old, but if he were a bottle of whiskey, he would be incredibly expensive. Old age" is when you're strictly cautioned to slow down by your doctor instead of the police.
Men age like fine wine—some turn to vinegar, but the best improve with age. Personally, I prefer to age like an old whiskey and make people wake up half confused, missing a shoe, and wondering what happened.
We haven't had a night with dinner and cocktails in a while. This momentous occasion is as good an excuse as any. Why Whiskey and tacos, you ask? This satisfies my gourmet Taste buds on a fast-food budget.

Then it is an easy stroll uphill the entire way to cap off the evening with drinks at Whiskey Thief at the Edwin Hotel.
So let's raise a taco and a drink to 60 years! Like a fine whiskey: aged to perfection, strong, and best enjoyed in moderation.
But at this age, life is also like a messy taco: you never know when things are going to fall out of the bottom.
So as we toast to your milestone, remember the golden rules of turning 60: never trust a fart, never pass up a bathroom, and never skip taco night. Cheers to 60!
