Now for the unhinged soliloquy, the demented monologue, Lunatic Diatribe, and the symphony of unfiltered chaos from my brain.
So who doesn't love Dolly? After her passing, I read a little about her. While she became famous and made plenty of money, her true love was for the people around her, regardless of how much money you had or how famous you were, who you voted for, or what you wore, or just about anything else that made you different from her.
We could use a lot more people like that in the world. Too much "if you don't have my beliefs, I don't like you." stuff out there. Those people are not worth messing with. Life's too short.
Here are examples of Dolly's wisdom
“I always count my blessings more than I count my money. I don’t work for money, never did.”
“It costs a lot of money to look this cheap”
“A loose tongue can lead to broken teeth.”
“You don’t have to look like everybody else. You don’t have to be a raving beauty to be special and to be beautiful.”
“People say how you stay looking so young? I say, well, good lighting, good doctors, and good makeup."
“I'm not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I'm not dumb—and I'm not blonde either.”
“My weaknesses have always been food and men—in that order"
And finally
"If you see someone without a smile, give them yours."
That's why I don't have time for the polarized, radicalized vitriol we have pouring out of some today.
Let's do this and make each other smile along the way.
Be like Dolly. Give more than you take, try to see the good in everyone, respect someone even if you disagree with them, and make them smile. You might find yourself smiling more too.
We could use more of that. No one really cares about the other stuff you care so much about. That's okay. Especially if you're enjoying the brief moments we're here
