# Chess IRL at Central Machine Works Brewery
Come for a game, stay for the people.
Chess IRL is a community-driven meetup for real chess, real people, and real pieces. We’re a casual, welcoming group where players of every skill level can connect, play, and enjoy a relaxed Sunday afternoon at Central Machine Works.
Complete beginners, casual players, returning players, and experienced tournament competitors are all welcome. Come alone or bring a friend—there is usually someone ready for a game.
## When we meet
Our official meetup window is every Sunday from 2:00–6:00 PM, but the gathering has a relaxed, drop-in format. There is no formal opening, pairing schedule, or requirement to arrive at a specific time.
2:00 PM is a soft start. The organizer occasionally arrives between 2:00 and 2:30, but regulars are welcome to grab a table, set up a board, and begin playing right away. When you arrive, simply look for the chessboards and introduce yourself.
People flow in and out throughout the afternoon, so stop by whenever it works for you. Games frequently continue beyond 6:00 PM—and sometimes as late as 9:00 PM—depending on turnout, energy, and available space.
## What to expect
We typically have 10–30 players with a wide range of experience. Games are casual and friendly, although stronger players can usually find plenty of challenging competition.
The online RSVP count rarely reflects the full turnout. Even when the list looks small, we consistently have a solid group show up—so don’t hesitate to join us.
## Location
