Since the earliest days of human communities, men and women have been assigned different social roles and responsibilities. Historically, societies have often been shaped through a male-dominated perspective, rooted in physical strength and control.
In the modern world, women’s participation in work, politics, and public life has expanded dramatically. Yet, patriarchal structures can still present barriers that prevent individuals from reaching their full potential. While the position of women today is vastly different from that of a century ago, new challenges and forms of inequality have emerged.
For this discussion, we will explore questions such as:
• How do patriarchal norms manifest in contemporary society?
• In what ways do they impact women’s opportunities, freedoms, and self-expression?
• Are these structures changing, and if so, how?
• What might a society without patriarchal influence look like?
Join us as we examine how these issues shape our communities today, and what pathways might exist toward a more equitable future.
Please bring thoughts for future discussions!
The event is free to attend though a donation may be requested (suggested donation £5).
