Please register to attend the next discussion which is focussed on Capitalism.

Many of the worlds problems seem to have our approach to wealth generation at their heart – the amount of resources we use, the unequal distribution of these resources – ruthless competition.

Is power in the hands of too few – and an undeserving few at that? - What can be done about that?

It is often remarked that Capitalism promotes inequality and it's inherent short termism leads to environmental degradation but paradoxically it also seems to promote innovation and efficiency which can benefit people and planet.

Social inequality causes social unrest and is largely down to our economic approach - but general living standards have increased hugely for many and humans live longer with more chance of living active lives.

Is there an alternative? Would any alternative be viable or even welcome? Would better regulation ameliorate some of the worst excesses?

Do you like discussing matters that can prove contentious - that help us consider different aspects of life and living and considering things from different perspectives?

Please join us in the Meeting Room in the Storyhouse Library for a discussion that allows free respectful expression of views and consideration of different points of view.

Space is limited so please make sure you RSVP.

Please bring your ideas for future discussions!

The event is free to attend though a donation may be requested (suggested donation £5).
