Help cook and serve dinner in Uptown soup kitchen, flexible shift time

Come spend some quality time helping prepare and serve a dinner to the Uptown Community. Volunteers are needed from from 4 pm to 7 pm, or anytime you can come in that window. So it is fine to come at 5:30 if you are coming from work. Please check in with Walker, he is the volunteer manager on site.

Near CTA Red line Lawrence station, multiple bus routes, and Divvy stations.
Volunteers should use the red door on the right of the church(south door) Ring doorbell labeled soup kitchen and you will be let in.
Food prep and cooking is from 4 to 5:30 pm
Dinner will be serve to the community from 5:30 to 7 pm. No previous cooking skills required. Only a few volunteers are needed in the kitchen, most of the help is bringing salads, bread, soups to the dining tables, pouring coffee and cold drinks, and clearing the tables when client is done eating. We will also help clean up with wiping down tables, sweeping. and putting chairs away. St. Thomas serves a hot dinner every Tuesday and Friday night to members of the Uptown community, everyone is welcome. This is a LGBTQ friendly event. You will get to interact and have friendly chats with seniors, veterans, refugees, immigrants, unhoused neighbors.
Please dress in comfortable clothes and non slip shoes. No open toe shoes in the kitchen.
You can wear a baseball cap/head scarf to manage your hair, or hairnets and aprons will be provided.
