What we're about

Chicago Knitters Unite is a well-rounded group of friendly people who love to knit and crochet in good company, over tasty food, wine and beer. We are made up of all ages and skill-levels, and would love to see some new faces!

Join us for our next meetup, and check us out on Ravelry (http://www.ravelry.com/groups/chicago-knitters-unite), Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=59792358943&ref=ts), Twitter (https://twitter.com/ChiKnitsUnite/), and Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/groups/cku/).

Happy knitting!

Fourth Monday Knitting at El Santo Taqueria

El Santo Taqueria

LA style tacos! Join us on the first Monday of the month for yarn and yummy food in the new, spacious and well-lit El Santo Taqueria. They offer all kinds of fresh, locally sourced delights, including house-made horchata. (They're also B.Y.O.B!) Check out the menu at https://www.elsantochicago.com/maps El Santo is at the corner of Foster and Kimball, easily accessible from the Foster or Kimball bus and a half-mile walk from the Brown Line train. As always, we'll be collecting the $1 Meetup fee. And, as a courtesy to the venue, we request that you purchase something while you're there, even if it's just a drink or a dessert.

The Red Lion Lincoln Square

The Red Lion (Lincoln Square)

$1.00

Join us after work every first Wednesday of the month at The Red Lion, just a short walk away from the Rockwell Brown Line stop at Lawrence and Rockwell. This is also convenient to the #49 Western bus and the #81 Lawrence bus. The bar has a nice selection of beers on tap, wine, and a full dinner menu with tasty pub foods. We'll be the ones with the yarn - if you can't find us, ask at the bar! This location is handicap-accessible at the front door, but the bathrooms are not accessible. As always, we will be collecting the $1 meetup fee, and we ask as a courtesy to our venues that you order something -- even if it’s just a soda-- while we use their space. Questions? Check our CKU FAQs (http://www.meetup.com/chicago-knitters-unite/pages/CKU_FAQ/).

Afternoon Knitters

River Valley Farmer's Table

$1.00

We're making some changes in 2019! We will be meeting once a month instead of weekly. Location will change monthly and cycle through our regular spots and a few new places. Please keep your RSVPs up to date. Meetups are limited to 12 attendees. Repeat no-shows will be asked to leave the group. Much like the places we go, the Thursday afternoon knitters are a great group of regulars always welcoming new people (who often become regulars). We encourage crocheters, cross-stitchers, and other people who play with silent string to come, too. We will not teach you to knit, though we all help each other with bits of technique. Thursdays tend to be as much about talking as they are about knitting. Our location rotates every month, so be sure to check MeetUp to see where we are each time. As always, we will be collecting the $1 meetup fee, and we ask as a courtesy to our venues that you order something -- even if it's just a coffee -- while we use their space. It's cold and flu season. Please respect your fellow knitters and stay home if you are sick. Questions? Check the Chicago Knitters Unite FAQ page: CKU FAQs (http://www.meetup.com/chicago-knitters-unite/pages/CKU_FAQ/).

Second Tuesday--It's a Lark!

Location visible to members

$1.00

We're moving to Lark, which has better lighting--not to mention a great menu of killer food and a large beverage selection! As always, we will be collecting the $1 meetup fee, and we ask as a courtesy to our venues that you order something -- even if it's just a coffee -- while we use their space. Questions? Check our CKU FAQs (http://www.meetup.com/knitting-833/pages/CKU_FAQ/).
