PostgreSQL Meetup

Dear Chicago PUG members,

Since I will be traveling March 12-26, our March meetup is scheduled on March 8 at 5-30 PM at DRW Training center 540 W. Madison, 25 floor.

A couple of reminders:

-This is a high-security building, which means the names of all participants should be communicated no later than 8 AM on the day of the event, and all participants need to present a government-issued id to be admitted. Registration for all in-person events will be closed by 7-30 AM the day of the event.
- The food order will be placed two days before the event, so I strongly encourage everybody planning to attend to RSVP by March 6.
-If you want to attend virtually, look for a separate meetup announcement, which will come up later. For this event, please RSVP only if you are attending in person.

In observance of the Women's History Months in general and International Women's Day in particular, I will present a "dress rehearsal" of my talk, which I will present at PG Day Paris on March 23:
PostgreSQL and Software Engineers:

Those who often interact with application developers know how often these developers are upset with us, with PostgreSQL, and with databases in general. In addition to the usual complaints that "databases are slow" and "database developers are slow," a frequent complaint is that database developers are bad engineers. Are these complaints justified? can we be better engineers? What can be done to make database development more compliant with software development standards? Join the discussion!
